There's this really cool horror trope I've noticed lately of a villain being introduced in a simplified, unscary form, but later evolving into something so detailed and terrifying, it takes your breath away.
This is not the same as a traditional metamorphosis like in body horror cinema because the trope relies on the medium it uses to sell the scare.
Minor spoilers for Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. Major spoilers for Inscryption and I Saw The TV Glow
To introduce you to the concept, I'm just gonna show you the Care Hound from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
It's the Carehound alright, or rather a pictorial representation of the Carehound. But how do they look in real life?
Ah.
Like the rest of the show, this is both terrifying and hilarious. You think because it's a 2D representation of the dog that the eyes on the side of the head are just artistic license, but then he turns toward you and you realise no actually, he literally has two eyes on each side! Genius. 10/10 joke.
But you see what I mean right? You're given a disarming image of the antagonist so that later, they can pull the rug out from under you with the truth. And there's an element of adaptation limitation that is then broken through. Suddenly the artifice doesn't feel so fake, and you're pulled in.
Now let's talk about Inscryption. Ironically, the game does this in reverse. Though Leshy is hidden in shadow during most of Act 1, we see his evolved form first.

and when Act 2 starts, we see what he was like before.
I believe this was done to de-fang our feral card master after having been our antagonist the whole game. Where once he was powerful polygons, he is now pitiful pixels.
But while all this has been happening, the real threat has been hidden in our deck this whole time.
P03 was introduced to us as nothing more than one card in our deck. He wasn't even a good card. But now it's Act 2 and we realise he, along with the other three Scrybes were trapped in lesser forms by Leshy when he took control of the game. For a whole act, we see something close to a status quo with these guys, who bicker and fight over control of the disc.
We see P03's true form in all it's 16-bit glory, as well as the environment he inhabits. While atmospheric, you can tell the graphics hold him back. He seems so small and pitiful. Simple and limited.
and then he takes control.

The first time I played this section, there was something so visceral about the leap. I stopped seeing P03 as an NPC inside a 90s TDC and was forced to see him as an entity haunting a cursed floppy disc. Once again, the artifice made me too comfortable, and now anything that felt more real than that became hyper real.
and no movie pulled this off quite has effectively as I Saw The TV Glow.
I am once again flashing a spoiler warning. If you haven't seen I Saw The TV Glow, do not continue reading until you have.
We are introduced to Mr Melancholy as the antagonist of a young adult fantasy series called The Pink Opaque.
Not as the antagonist of the movie we're watching, but the villain of the TV show within the movie.
Right off the bat, Mr Melancholy isn't even on our radar. Even worse, the special effects they use to portray him are laughable.

We see him once again as our lead characters stare dreamily up into the sky, further re-enforcing how silly this guys looks. I mean come on, he looks like an uncooked pancake!!
That all changes when Owen sits down to watch the final episode of The Pink Opaque, which was mysteriously cancelled after a cliffhanger ending.
The build up and climax to what happens next is one of the most harrowing cinema experiences I've had in my entire life. This is your final spoiler warning.
Isabel and Tara, the two leads in the Pink Opaque, are kidnapped by Mr Melancholy's henchmen and brought face to face with the moon man himself.
He looks... good. No, good isn't the right word... he looks convincing. The visual effects between the last time we saw him to now jumped a literal century, and combined with the crt filter hide any possible cg imperfections. In short, it make him look like he's really in the scene.
Or rather... that he's really in the room.
He gets closer, explaining his plan to trap the girls in a realm without magic or memory, where they will suffocate in the nightmare. Where they don't remember the powers they have, or the people they are. where you don't even notice the aspect ratio switched.
Where you don't even remember that you're dying.

and just like that, Mr Melancholy becomes the most real thing in the entire world. He becomes YOUR villain, he's trying to kill YOU! He's already succeeded in killing YOU. YOU are SUFFOCATING right now and you don't even KNOW!
and that's when you remember to breathe.

So, hear me out
Secret Life Inscryption AU, I can explain
Picture me this, Scar takes the role of Leshy somewhat, Trader Scar's surrounded by blooming sunflowers, it has been a while since the other Lifers interacted with him... he has been acting oddly as of late, way more reserved, mysterious, as he knew something the others didn't, only ever inviting people into his cabin to play a game of cards, as simple as playing the correct cards to chip away at the other's HP with playable creatures like wolves, sheep or cows, nothing out of the ordinary in terms of mobs on the cards. He always loses tho, seemingly on purpose, and he gives whoever beats him a random prize from his stash of trinkets and artifacts. However, weird things started happening.
Lizzie was the first to beat him, she earned an eye of ender that glowed green, Scar claimed that it was from a rare Farlander Enderman. Time later, a new card appeared in Scar's hand: the Fairy.
Then, Jimmy visited, shortly followed by Mumbo. After their win, the Trader gifted them a Warden's horn each. Soon enough, two new cards: the Caged Canary and the Fruit Bat.
Like so, Scar's deck continued to grow as the number of people in the server dwindled, cards like the Jackalope, the Angel, the Parrot, the Hound, the Moth... he didn't mind, he was saving them, at least that is what he convinced himself of.
But soon, there were none left. No one to play with, no one to share his treasures with, just him, his sunflowers and his deck of cards.
But surely he could bring them back, right? Just for one last round?

HOUSE M.D × INSCRYPTION
This isn't my first HouseMD AU, nor will it most likely be the last lol. You'll probably see less of this one??? Maybe??? Idk. Either way, I wanted to post this! Inscryption is one of my favorite games, and combining it with my favorite show felt right.
Questions about this AU or the game of Inscryption itself will be answered. I'm 100% willing to make a post explaining Inscryption as well for the HouseMD fans or people who saw this AU
Information of the AU under the cut!

JAMES WILSON (0/3)
Hare [Many Lives]
Sigil Meaning: Whenever this card is sacrificed, it does not die
Animal/Card Symbolism: Hares are lagomorphs and still adored creatures, but are often seen as creepier than bunnies. Wilson, as willing and caring as he is, has a few horrors within himself.

LISA CUDDY [2/3]
Clipped Parrot [Loose Tail]
Sigil Meaning: When this card is struck, a tail [feather] is created in its place and this card moves to the right.
Animal/Card Symbolism: Cuddy is intelligent and a valuable person, but can struggle with how she's taken due to her gender, and put down because of it. Held back by something.
LAWRENCE KUTNER [1/3]
Fox [Corpse Eater]
Sigil Meaning: If a card that you own dies by combat, this card is played from your hand on its space.

BG3 characters but it’s what Inscryption decks they would use (Spoilers for BG3)
Shadowheart uses a Magick deck Typically sticks to using only one color of Mox at a time in order to build resources- tends to favor Blue Mox. Used to have a Beast deck, but she doesn’t play with it much anymore. A Selune aligned Shadowheart does mix Beasts/Magick! She notably has a caged alpha card. A Shar aligned Shadowheart uses an Undead/Magick deck
Lae’zel uses a Beast deck Makes use of stacking Beast cards such as the Ants- has a firm belief that the best defense is a good offense. Late game Lae’zel also has Hydras and an Oroboros
Astarion uses an Undead deck He has several brittle cards that he’ll throw out while something like a Mummy Lord grows in the background, trying to keep his opponent busy while stronger cards grow on the side lines. Ascended Astarion has a Beast/Undead hybrid deck- mostly utilizes Goats, Cats, and Wolves from his Beast half- most of which have sigils to supply more blood or bones when sacrificed.
Wyll uses a Beast deck His deck is mostly Bird based to pass by his foe’s cards and attack them directly, though he does have a few Adders as well. A Devil-turned Wyll also utilizes Orange Mox cards alongside his Beasts.
Gale uses a Magick deck He’s very proud of his collection of rare Mox Master cards. He typically has a hybrid deck utilizing two of the three Mox colors, though he has been known to occasionally use all three at once through hybrid cards. Incredibly strategic in his use of sigils and resources- typically low on offense cards, but he’s chalked full of utility and can and will drag his opponents into card starvation
Karlach uses a Beast deck Notably has a few Undead cards from her time in the Hells, but not enough to call it a hybrid deck. She has several high cost hard hitting cards, like the Great White, Grizzly, and Moose, as well as several heavy defense cards (like the Tortoise & Mole Man). To try and balance out the high blood cost of her deck, she has several blood suppling cards- like the Squirrel Ball and a Black Goat.
Halsin uses a Beast/Magick deck He has a lot of high cost powerhouse cards like Grizzlies & a Urayuli, though he typically makes use of smaller cheaper creatures like Beavers and adolescent Wolves/Stags & Mantises. He also notably has a Squirrel Ball & tends to utilize Green Mox (but has been known to use the other two before)
Minthara uses a Tech/Undead deck Almost everything she has comes with a Spike Sigil. Makes good use of energy cards & stim builds, utilizing low cost Brittle cards to buy her time. She also has several dozen Bolt/Bone Hounds
Jaheira uses a Beast deck She makes use of movement based cards, particularly favoring Stags. Notably also has a collection of Mantis Gods
Minsc uses a Beast deck Boo chooses cards, Minsc plays them. Has a lot of defense based cards- like Beavers, Tortoises, and Mole Men- as well as a Grizzly that he says reminds him of Boo.
Orin uses an Undead/Beast deck All of her Beasts are for sacrificing/building up her Undead cards in a quick manner (almost always starts with her Beast cards before switching to Undead ones roughly halfway through the game) Very notably has a Ijiraq card as well as a few Amalgams.
Gortash uses a Tech deck He has a lot of trap cards to whittle down a careless opponent’s deck as well a notable amount of Sentry & Sniper cards. Also those terrible Explode Bots/Bomb Latchers. A lot of his cards are pretty delicate, but he’s not above leveling out the playing field by bombing all of it.
Ketheric uses an Undead/Beast deck Has several cards that give him resources upon death. He relies heavily on hard defenses and stacking attacks- has several Caged Alphas and a Long Elk. He has has a nasty habit of having a Spike Sigil on a lot of his cards, so getting past his defenses can be quite the task.
Bonus!
Durge uses a Beast deck Lots of Blood Cats and high blood cost cards in this deck. Notably also has a few Undead cards in the interest of not letting a resource their Beast’s make go to waste. (Has a few coyote cards that they lovingly refer to as their gnollies)

I feel like I need to apologize for my sudden disappearance; sorry about vanishing!
It's a wee bit complicated, but TL;DR- Writer's block made me feel as if I couldn't come back unless I had something for people to read. I have this problem frequently when I start posting my writing, but I'm working on getting better about that. I'll explain a little more under the cut.
Otherwise, I am back! I have nothing to show for my absence other than stress but I'm working on getting myself together and posting things- maybe not writing, but other things until I can get my writer's block under control.
=-=-=-=-=
Okay, so. I've had this problem for my whole life. If I start posting stories somewhere, I somehow get the impression that I am 'required' to keep going with it, especially when others start showing interest. But my brain is a finicky jerk with a short attention span, so it often drifts and changes hyperfixations after a period of somewhere around 1-5 months.
And that's what it did. Suddenly I was stuck to Resident Evil 8 and I could not find it in me to write Inscryption, no matter how badly I wanted to for those that liked my writing. I felt as if no one would want to read my RE stuff since everyone expected Inscryption. Which is a little silly of me since I literally have it on my page that I will write about whatever I want.
I think it's the expectation, really. I felt like I needed to live up to peoples' requests and that if I couldn't come back with the content that they wanted, that… I shouldn't come back at all? Again, I know you guys aren't like "FICS OR DON'T SHOW UP!" It's just what my garbage brain does because I'm a people pleaser.
But I am working on getting better at it. I hounded myself this whole time to come back because I knew that deep down, no one was pushing me for content. Everyone was just wondering where I went. So I am back! I'm trying to get back into the tumblr mindset- anonymity is so much easier for me, whoops- so I'll start answering tagged things (no matter how old) and getting myself readjusted.
#my ramblings#I swear I didn't mean to be gone so long#Time slipped through my fingers#Also I was having a Super Bad Time#But I'm getting better! Bear with me~

Another round of applause. Someone is not taking this very seriously. "Quite the sampler indeed..." Stepping forward, a gentle hand comes to rest on The Tengu's shoulder, as if ushering to step back. "And you're quite the shot. After this, I'd like to meet this 'Shogun,' you've mentioned. I must thank her for the pleasure of fighting alongside such a fine soldier." Another somber step, only to kick off the floor and launch forward.
Jing Yuan 10/10HP Energy roll: 6
Lightning envelops The General, golden radiance coursing out and forming larger than life armor. His Guan Dao rises, wooshing as only the air is split... Then, the Lightning Lord follows his motion.
[3 Energy] Jing Yuan 10/10HP uses Lightbringer on all enemies! Overload triggers x 4! -6HP Automaton Spider. Automaton Spider (4.5/20HP). -6HP Automaton Direwolf. Automaton Direwolf (12.5/30HP). -6HP Automaton Hound. Automaton Hound (3.5/19HP). -6HP Automaton Beetle. Automaton Beetle (2.5/22HP).
Sundering stars above, screeching thunder fills the arena, erupting out of the flames that still licked tempered metal. Smoke and cinders burst out, cutting off vision. Soot and wind mean little to an Arbiter-General.
"On my mark!"
[2 Energy] Jing Yuan: 10/10HP uses Rifting Zenith on all enemies. -2HP Automaton Spider. Automaton Spider (2.5/20HP). -2HP Automaton Direwolf. Automaton Direwolf (10.5/30HP). -2HP Automaton Hound. Automaton Hound (1.5/19HP). -2HP Automaton Beetle. Automaton Beetle (0.5/22HP).
A strong gash opens the fog of war, revealing the enemies. Potent lightning surge across the end of his blade, cutting through to make his opening.
"Now, Robin!" He shouts.
Robin 10/10HP uses Wingflip White Noise on Automaton Direwolf (Roll: 2 = Hit! -2HP) (8.5/30).
Angelic graces flutters past him, barraging the large Direwolf, allowing Jing Yuan to find the weakest links within the pack.
[1 Energy] Jing Yuan: 10/10HP uses Normal Attack on Automaton Hound (Roll: 17 = Hit! -1.5HP) Automaton Hound (0/19). [1 Energy] Jing Yuan: 10/10HP uses Normal Attack on Automaton Beetle (Roll: 9 = Hit! -1.5HP) (0/22).
It seems he could take things seriously, his polearm coming down against the robotic dog, crushing it with ease. Pivoting on his heel, the blade is rammed directly though the green light before him. The machine is brought up, then smashed down against the floor, freeing The General's blade of such useless machinery.
"Now, scribe, finish this!"

Random take, sometimes it feels like people wanna make it out to be like you're not allowed to only find genuine interest in specific content people make and not care for the rest but it's perfectly valid to only like one or two or etc series or specific kinds of content from ccs as long as you don't demand only that content and acknowledge that they're free to make whatever they want
Watch what you like and like what you like from ccs and don't feel like you have to like all of it or make others feel like they have to like all of it, just don't demand more of it than you're getting or be rude or vice versa
#We don't watch the majority of Reto's yt content we watch some of his streams and Inscryption previously watching Rep and Revita#We don't always find things people play interesting#We only watch a few of Olexa's series#You don't have to like and watch all content a cc makes to genuinely support them or be a fan#Just don't hound them over it if they make other content or act like they can only make the content you lije#like*#E.x. I've yelled about people getting all pissy cause Wels made other videos that weren't hc#You can like his hc content and not like the modded or satisfactory or Isaac just don't act like he can only make hc content#alex.txt

Hey! This is the second part of assigning Pokémon to the Scrybes!
(Part 1 here)
A reminder of the rules I set for myself:
1. The pokémon given should fit the aesthetic and interests of their respective Scrybes.
2. Due to the Scrybes being bosses, they will be given 1 legendary pokemon each.
3. Each Scrybe must be assigned at least one pokemon that represents their connection to the other Scrybes, because want it or not, they all do actually complement each other in what they do for the game.
4. There must be a Pokémon that represents their subordinates.
5. No more than one starter (if they get one at all).
(Also disclaimer: I haven’t played Legends so no pokémon from Hisui unfortunately)
So for the Scrybe of the Dead:
Grimora
-Dusknoir
-Gengar
-Alolan Marowak
-Mismagius
-Houndoom
-Spiritomb
-Froslass
-Jellicent
-Chandelure
-Golurk
-Bisharp
-Mandibuzz
-Cofagrigus
-Aegislash
-Gorgeist
-Yveltal
-Decidueye
-Palossand
-Mimikyu
-Dhelmise
-Cursola
-Polteageist
Explanation: For Grimora, I decided early on that the most fitting to be her main pokémon would be a Dusknoir. This mainly because there’s a lot of info on Dusknoir that says it has a strong connection with the realm of the dead, even more than other pokémon, as it seems to feel compelled to guide the lost souls to the afterlife. Due to this basically meaning it’s a sort of grim reaper, a symbol of death itself, I felt it was pretty fitting. Most of the others I believe are obvious picks, since a variety of ghost types was inevitable, but dark types fit nicely as well. Gengar, for example, is one of the most powerful ones, so it definitely belonged. One that might not be too obvious is Bisharp. This one I picked because her board preference seems to be heavily inspired by chess!
So for the special picks, first we have the ones that represent the other Scrybes. Leshy is represented by Decidueye, since it’s a grass-ghost type and an owl would fit right in the aesthetic he goes for; it’s a similar case for Trevenant over in Leshy’s part. Mimikyu, being also part fairy, is a good one to represent Magnificus; this one also has the bonus of Mimikyu having an “artsy” theme since it makes the Pikachu disguise itself and it’s a mystery what it looks like under it. P03 was the toughest for this one, but I feel in the end, Golurk represents him well: it might be a ghost and ground type, but there’s something about it that certainly looks mechanical to a certain point, and it IS known as the Automaton pokémon. As for Grimora’s Legendary, I debated assigning Giratina to her, but I went for Yveltal instead. Not only would it complement my pick of Xerneas for Leshy, but it also draws from the parallel of life and Death that he and Grimora have going on. Xerneas is survival and life, Yveltal is destruction and death.
Finally, for the pokémon that would represent her subordinates: Kaycee’s was pretty easy. Froslass, a ghost and ice type pokémon, not only fits the type of death depicted for Kaycee in the game, but it also is said to be formed from the regrets or grudges of a woman's soul, which plays a little into the more meta part of Inscryption. Sawyer gets a Houndoom, for obvious reasons (doomed by a hound?), and the bonus of it having a skeletal looking appearance. And for Royal, we have Dhelmise. I know Royal’s cause of death was scurvy, but since the idea of a ship being super important to its pirates, I like the idea of having the spirit of the ship itself follow the pirate into the afterlife, so that they will never be separated.
And that is it for Grimora’s post, if you have any comments or suggestions I’d love to read them! Next up is Magnificus!

All my good posts are about inscryption so here‘s some boss ideas for all scrybes minus leshy, you’ll see why
Let’s start with Grimora and expand the pirate boss, the gimmick would be cards launching out of the cannons, reinforcing her side or harming your cards, essentially if the cannon skeleton hits a card, it’s stats are removed from that cards stats, at a minimum of 1/1, but if it hits an empty space it’s added to their field as a card, cannonball skeletons come in two forms, either 2/1 or 1/2, if it hits an empty space on your side than you get the skeleton as well, she will target randomly first phase but on the second she will only target your cards and her blanks
the second boss is the frozen corpse, notice the pattern? Frozen corpse doesn’t do much first phase but second phase will freeze your cards randomly, frozen cards function the exact same as the frozen opossum.
Third is the hound, uses mainly cards with the bonehound’s sigil, and will make your cards wet with dog drool, giving them brittle
Grimora herself will do something similar to leshy, first using boss tactics, then deathcards, because she would definitely have deathcards, f the final phase, she would write a grimore for herself and play it, it would be powerful, like the moon but only one lane
doing the others later

Well I’m asking now, explain them :D
//i've just been so hyperfocused on inscryption that i decided to mix my fixations (hypermixation lol).\\
//so chester is a normal card that costs two blood to play. when spawned on the board, and you have less than 3 items, he will give you a random item.\\
//deerclops is a rare card that costs four blood to play. it can attack in two directions, but not directly in front of it. when your turn is over, it will move in whichever direction the arm is facing, pushing other cards in that direction with the movement.\\
//i may also do glommer, and maaaaybe a hound. bc i have ideas for them.\\

Again, the hybrid cards are a given (hell, this blog is named after one): every cost pairing has at least one hybrid card (barring blood + magicks), but what really cements for me that the Scrybes used to be close are... the scenes where they’re actively trying to tear each other apart, oddly enough.
Let me elaborate:
In act 1, three of the four scrybes are trapped in the bodies of animals within Leshy’s deck, that’s a given. Not exactly a friendly relationship, clearly, but that’s not the focus here. The focus is how they escape.
Of course, this was mainly up to Magnificus: Stoat and Stinkbug mention multiple times that there’s a third talking card who actually knows what he’s doing, and the player is unable to escape without perceiving the magic paint splattered all over the cabin that Magnificus didn’t tell anyone about. But that’s not the point. The point is, in order to formulate this plan in the first place, they would have needed to know a couple of things:
How Leshy’s tool of Inscryption works (his tool is the camera, but the inscryption cannot occur without the film roll. Magnificus knew this, at very least, despite having no hybrid cards with Leshy in act II. While Magnificus is the only one hounding the player about the film roll, I’d wager the other two are aware of its workings as well).
If Inscrybing Leshy with his own tool would work (Yes, they were inscrybed by Leshy’s camera, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he could... not exactly a topic of conversation that would come up with your worst enemies).
This implies active collaboration between the four at some point, at very least. Not even mentioning the commentary the three talking cards provide on Leshy himself (P03′s is mainly backhanded, Grimora’s retrospective, and Magnificus’s conspirational, but they still imply having known Leshy personally at some point. Kaycee’s mod serves to further support this, with the new “wiseclock” and “magickal bleach” items, both of which Leshy comments on in reference to their respective scrybes (though, admittedly, he keeps an emotional distance here in order to preserve his narrator persona... not as much with Magnificus’s bleach, but definitely with the wiseclock).
One could argue that they took a gamble and didn’t actually know any of that, yes, but... we’re talking about four of the most methodical, overly-suspicious people on the planet here (Magnificus especially). Leaving it up to random chance wouldn’t be entirely out of the equation for them, but they already had their independent variable: the player (a gamble that they lost with Kaycee). If they weren’t completely certain inscrybing Leshy with his own tool was possible... they had years worth of eternity to come up with something else.
This only shows them on bad terms, clearly, but... Leshy at least seemed to want to reconcile. Even if his version of reconciliation was. Y’know. Turning them into animals. But moving on.
Act 2 is riddled with these implications as well, but... admittedly, I don’t have screencaps for these, so you’ll just have to trust my bullet point list:
Rebecha’s dialogue (doesn’t specifically imply camaraderie between scrybes, but she sure seems to know a lot about all of them and how they butt heads with each other).
Magnificus’s letter to Grimora
Splotches of magic paint near the entrance to the Woodcarver’s alcove in Leshy’s domain
The whole conversation between Leshy and P03 (especially the aftermath wherein Leshy states (loosely) “If only they [the Scrybes] could see. To live as a beast is the noblest thing, even one so lowly as a stoat.”)
P03′s various commentary on which Scrybe you’re aiming to replace (all of which are insults, but insults specifically tailored to what they would find mean-spirited rather than what P03 would say at face value).
Again, hybrid cards
When act 3 rolls around... we get a re-hash of more or less exactly my point in act 1. The other three Scrybes know exactly how to take out P03, both mentally and physically. They predict its mannerisms (dismantling the camera to get its attention, telling the player to allow him to gloat/be enthusiastic about the end of his game so they can strike) and are able to physically kill him for a time (again, it’s arguable that taking off someone’s head is generally going to be a fatal blow, but P03 is a robot, a fact that they’re all very well aware of. His actual processor could have been anywhere; in fact, generally with computers the processor and the monitor are separate, but they all knew it was in his head and acted accordingly).
Lastly, regarding act 3... you can’t pretend the captcha code asking “I am not a robot” wasn’t specifically to keep P03 out of the dredging room. The others, debatable, but that one specifically needed an internet connection to display in the first place. The Scrybes absolutely could have modded it during that time (and the fact that they knew that would actually work/he wouldn’t be able to just lie about it is equal parts hilarious and supportive of some sort of allyship beforehand.)
Relevant screenshots below the cut because this is already pretty long:
Act 1 “reconciliation” (screenshots are stitched from multiple screenshots but the dialogue has not been changed):
Kaycee’s Mod items:

Act 3 Planning (I don’t have the whole conversation screencapped; you get the point though):

Thinking again about how heavily Inscryption seems to imply that the Scrybes did get along at some point in the past. Even outside of the hybrid cards (which are pretty strong evidence in of themselves) there’s a few more little things that just really drive it home. As much as I like to joke along the lines of “the divorce was rough on all of them” the fact that they may have actually been friends just makes the game even more tragic. Then the game becomes not only about four power-hungry tabletop game hosts fighting for the chance to have their work seen in a world doomed to be discarded, but four allies who were willing to tear apart the only other people who understood their plight to do so.
#Stoat Speak#Excuse the lack of act 2 screenshots I thought I had them on hand but I didn't#and I'm not about to play the whole game over again to get some of them... right now#Also worth noting (though this post is long enough so I won't add it here) that I don't think the OLD_DATA was entirely responsible for-#-the resultant fallout between them. Partially? Oh yeah for sure. But the OLD_DATA is just a tool#Saying the OLD_DATA alone makes them do bad things is like hiring a mechanic to fix your car and saying the wrench did it#Except the wrench is world-altering knowledge and the mechanic has recently learned they're not real. As one does#Point being#It's the temptation of power above all else that made them assholes to each other. They're still completely themselves during their games#Just that ''self'' has changed because their goals have changed because they were given the opportunity to be god and they took it#That's all#Long post

Juno's mini bosses part 1
So I was think about what Juno's boss fight or just general game as well as who or what her mini boss's/minions would be if she had a map like leshy or followed the same mechanics as act 2 of Inscryption! Going to break this into 3 parts one for each mini boss.
Mini Boss/minion 1: Bernard the Gatekeeper - Apperance: A tall brooding fellow with a kind heart. He's dressed old rusted iron knight's armor that hides most of his shadowy form as he carries a giant stone hammer. His face like Juno's lacks most details but one can see a scar hidden beneath a crimson eye patch he wears over his left eye. The lines that make up the accents of his features depict him with a curled mustache and slick back hair and a face worn with age. He stands at almost 8ft high (248cm) and is built like a muscled giant but deep beneath the armor and cold exterior is a warm and gentle heart.
-Role: He is as the his title states the gate keeper. His job is to protect and guard the outskirts of Juno's domain. Protecting it and her from any possible danger. He was originally a knight from long ago but after losing his way he was guided to the shadow realm, a calm and friendly place that welcomed him with open arms. After the generosity the land and it's scrybe gifted him he vows to protect it to the best of his ability and he does so courageously. When it comes to visitors he acts like a guide gifting them small maps or directions as to where to go if they are visiting for the first time. And when it is time for a challenger to arrive he takes roll as the first miniboss they face if they wish to challenge Juno
-Game play/boss: His deck is filled mainly with shadow hounds that he calls his guard dogs. He is a heavy hitter that may also play a night terror but he only has one in his deck.
During the second stage of his his fight he will use his skill which is a move where he uses his hammer on the player's weakest cards on the board and turn them into a stone wall card with two health and zero damage. This move is only used on the player's weakest two weakest cards; he does this as away to both limit the player's spaces, but also give them something to defend with for a turn.
Intro Dialog for fight: Juno- "As you approach the gates at the edge of the moon lit force the sound of clucking metal alerts you. In the distance you can make out the frame of hulking figure their steps heavy as they marched in front of an iron gate lined with hedges. As you approach the figure turns to you staring at you with their lonesome red eye; their face riddled with scars. The scowl out you before brandishing a stone hammer meant for a giant and proclaimed-"
"Ah, I sensed someone approaching. But you have made a mistake in evoking a duel my friend. And mark my words this journey of yours will not be an easy one for you. As the Gatekeeper of this island I cannot allow you to tread this way further. By the orders of Lady Juno I shall not let you pass! So turn back now, or else my hounds will have a new chew toy to play with. HAVE AT THEE!"

Doing that thing I do and mashing my two favorite brain rots together (Dragon Age Inquisition + Inscryption)
Solas uses a Beast deck (So many wolves. Like all of the wolves. He's also been known to switch things up every now and again to keep from becoming stale/predictable, like using mantis gods and mole men, just cards that aren't his norm, basically)
Fen'harel uses a Beast/Magick deck (he has a lot of mythical animal based cards with higher costs, like Urayuli, Ouroboros, Long Elk, Hydra, ect. Also giant mox cards. Takes him a while to get set up but he's a nightmare once he gets there)
Dorian uses an Undead deck (Makes use of temporary cards, mostly uses them to keep his opponent on their toes and focused on the onslaught of damage while something like a Mummy Lord grows in the background. Also bone hounds, the less free space his foe has, the better)
Vivienne uses a Magick deck (She finds it utterly delightful to start off by playing relatively weak or useless cards and then breaking out the big mox/master cards to completely destroy her opponent)
Sera uses a Beast/Tech deck (makes use of sigils a lot. Lots of ants/bees and things that explode)
Cole uses a Beast deck (almost exclusively free cards, but he does have a few fucked up things. Like grizzlies and mole men. Probably has a cat)
Varric uses a Tech deck (a lot of trap based cards. Basically spends half the game trying to get his opponent to waste all of their cards via disabling/destroying his traps)
Iron Bull uses a Beast deck (mostly big boys and blood goats. He does have a few glass canons, like the Mantises.)
Blackwall uses a Beast deck (lots of pelts and things that create dams, also Alphas. Very defensive)
Cassandra uses a Beast/Undead deck (not a lot of undead cards, but she has them. They mesh well with her beasts, even if she's not the biggest fan of them)
Leliana uses a Tech deck (She is notably one of the only people who can easily switch up what type of deck she has. Has a solid grasp on how all of the decks work)
Cullen uses a Beast deck (very practical. Lots of things that will buy him time to gather up squirrels to release hard hitters)
Josephine uses a Magick/Tech deck (Utility. Everywhere.)

Time for more inscryption content, next up, two for one, i’m making the talking cards for all scrybes, including reworking leshy’s, speaking of
First off let’s have Magnificus as the stoat, i’m thinking 1/2 with sprinter, if you’ve lost an eye you’d definitly be adverse to confrontation
Next up let’s have Po3 as the stinkbug, 2/2 costing one more bone, if i didn’t have to obey the rules of the game i’d also give it repulsive instead of stinky, seems fun
Finally Grimora as the stunted wolf, one more blood cost but with 1 more attack and bifuricated strike
New names would be one-eyed stoat, ladybug, and rabid wolf

So, Magnificus’s paint is can be seen without his eye, (as we see in act 2) so than what fluid is it? I personally think it’s blood, so there’s two stupid funny things I thought of
1, Magnificus uses the dagger and Leshy is traumatized because he has no fucking blood, more so because he keeps poking his eye and rubbing it on fucking everything
2. Sir your blood test came back negative, you have no blood.

stupid but funny headcanons i have about the scybes because i’m bored
Leshy can turn his head around 270 degrees like an owl, he does this specifically to watch birds and nothing else
Grimora went through a goth phase, even more so than the goth phase she’s perpetually in, it was fucking weird
All of Magnificus’s body fluids are the wrong color, all of them, no-one knows why
Po3 has played all of daniel mullin’s games, including inscryption, don’t ask
